I am not an athletically inclined individual. My family plays guitar in the living room after holiday meals, in high school I was crazy for the drama club, I sat in the field with the horses like a dreamer, and every February I would get really excited because I got to go to fiddle camp.
Somehow I ended up in the Faculty to Physical Education and Recreation at the University of Alberta taking a B.Sc. in Kinesiology, and now work in an environment where so many of my colleagues seem to have some kind of dazzling past athletic history (softball, volleyball, track, what have you). The first time I mentioned fiddle camp I had to stand my firm ground that it was indeed a real thing.
And I happened to marry a professional football player.
